only two days left to vote. :)

http://www.sanfranciscofashionawards.com/index.php?/online-voting/vote-here/

somebody asked why i should win this particular award. well, compared to the current frontrunner, i almost exclusively blog about san francisco fashion designers and SF events and almost never post anything about corporate labels, because i support independent fashion. i think that makes me a better candidate to represent the SF Fashion Awards than someone who blogs about everything from Gucci to Nike but just happens to live in San Francisco.

I don’t know who the current frontrunner is, but since when is fashion exclusively required to be independent. As far as I can tell, it’s the SF fashion awards, not the independent SF fashion awards. Just because you blog about one thing doesn’t mean everyone else has to, and just because you care about this topic doesn’t mean everyone else only cares about this.

Gucci and Nike and everything else in between are all a part of SF and make it what it is. So stop being bitter about the fact that you’re in second place.

Just wanted to have my say, even though you probably won’t enable this since it doesn’t talk about you in a positive light. That’s great journalism right there. No censorship at all.

i approved your comment because if you ask any of my friends who i’ve talked to about this, i’ve already had this conversation. the award depends on how you interpret the category – is it about SF fashion (and by that i mean fashion made in SF by people in SF, not fashion worn by people in SF, no matter where it came from), or is it about fashion, with a writer from SF?

and who said i was bitter? i actually don’t care much, and have been promoting this for my friend Del and all my other friends who were nominated as much as for myself. lay off the presumptions, whoever you are.

evidently we interpret this differently. I think that San Francisco fashion is all the fashion in SF, whether it be the tattered clothing of the homeless or the elegant apparel of a celebrity, it all makes up SF.

and you definitely sound bitter about it. if you read your post like you were talking to someone it would sound very snide.

Wow – this is whole fashion award thing has been trippy to me. I’m always afraid of sticking my head out of the crowd and getting wacked down. Posting stuff like “vote for me” reminds me of being on stage and I’ve got extreme stage fright, but at the same time with out some self promotion it can be a hard road to getting anywhere. I’m convinced that marketing is about 90% of success – it’s hard to even quantify – marketing is like 100% of success – like the emperors new cloths or like the old adage that any publicity is good publicity even bad publicity.
Personally I want to do more with photography – I love it and the ideas of being able to do more of it in my life total pumps me up. At the same time my skin’s about as thick as gossamer and responses like Michael’s trip me out. I thought your posting was perfectly reasonable and an interesting perspective. I didn’t see anything bitter. Makes me wonder who “Michael” is and what his trip is. I also thought the second post was a new person jumping in on Michael’s band wagon – “wow, what serious pushback”, then I realized it was the same person posting.
