ENFP
i mentioned that a while ago i volunteered to undergo 8 hours of psychological evaluation to help out some grad students @ UC who work in jason’s library. part of the evaluation was the standard Jungian personality test. however, the downside of all the testing was that i was not given any results or debriefing, and nothing was revealed to me other than things i discovered on my own during the process.
so, i just took a short Jungian Meyers-Briggs test online, and came with this personality type:
Extroverted Intuitive Feeling Perceiving
* distinctively expressed extrovert
* slightly expressed intuitive personality
* distinctively expressed feeling personality
* moderately expressed perceiving personality
aka: a Champion Idealist:
The Champion Idealists are abstract in thought and speech, cooperative in accomplishing their aims, and informative and expressive when relating with others. For Champions, nothing occurs which does not have some deep ethical significance, and this, coupled with their uncanny sense of the motivations of others, gives them a talent for seeing life as an exciting drama, pregnant with possibilities for both good and evil. This type is found in only about 3 percent of the general population, but they have great influence because of their extraordinary impact on others. Champions are inclined to go everywhere and look into everything that has to do with the advance of good and the retreat of evil in the world. They can’t bear to miss out on what is going on around them; they must experience, first hand, all the significant social events that affect our lives. And then they are eager to relate the stories they’ve uncovered, hoping to disclose the “truth” of people and issues, and to advocate causes. This strong drive to unveil current events can make them tireless in conversing with others, like fountains that bubble and splash, spilling over their own words to get it all out.
Champions consider intense emotional experiences as being vital to a full life, although they can never quite shake the feeling that a part of themselves is split off, uninvolved in the experience. Thus, while they strive for emotional congruency, they often see themselves in some danger of losing touch with their real feelings, which Champions possess in a wide range and variety. In the same vein, Champions strive toward a kind of spontaneous personal authenticity, and this intention always to “be themselves” is usually communicated nonverbally to others, who find it quite attractive. All too often, however, Champions fall short in their efforts to be authentic, and they tend to heap coals of fire on themselves, berating themselves for the slightest self-conscious role-playing.
wow. that’s pretty spot-on, i’d say. and explains a lot about why i blog, too!

Amy! I am Introverted Intuitive Feeling Perceiving, just like you but Intro instead of Extro.
Very interesting. What’s also interesting is that three years ago, the result would have been very VERY different for me. I would have been way over on the Thinking and Judging side.
at first i was very surprised that i did not get Judging instead of a Perceiving, but then when i thought about it, i try really hard not to be judgemental; i voice my opinions, but my opinions are open-minded and i change them often and not stick with judgements, so then i was glad to see that P instead of F. but the Thinking v. Feeling? i’m definitely a feeler more than a thinker, but i think about feeling alot, so that seems like sort of a blurry line in my persona. i don’t see those two as opposite ends of the spectrum in my world, but i know what they mean by putting them at odds. i also think that i’m much more sensing instead of intuitive: “Sensing means that a person believes mainly information he receives directly from the external world. Intuition means that a person believes mainly information he receives from the internal or imaginative world.”
anyway. all good food for thought.
and vera: i think your more introverted self is part of the reason you seem to interpret things differently than others in social circles.
What fun, Thanks Amy! It appears that I am a Moderate or more accurately a moderate ENFJ:
moderately expressed extrovert
moderately expressed intuitive personality
moderately expressed feeling personality
moderately expressed judging personality
Thanks Amy,
Joe
I’ve been doing some testing and have found out quite alot of useful things about myself, sparked from this post.
The first is that I’m an ENTJ which relates me most closely to a Field Marshall.
I’ve also just taken a Job Asset and Strengths Profile test off of Monster and found out that I’m Visionary with a knack for innovative solutions, strong multi-tasking skills and an expressive streak (why yes, I do like the sound of my own voice! hehe).
Thanks for getting me going down this track, Amy. It has really helped me to better define who I am and how I can better present my strengths and talents to prospective employers!
I’m getting ready to post alot of this over on my spot with a big ol’ Thank You to you!
